An Interview with Straight Six

We were intrigued by Straight Six’s 2018 debut, ‘Full Circle.’ We decided to speak with them to learn more about how they are faring during the current situation and what’s in store for the future. Continue to read our interview with Straight Six.

1. How you did you all meet and what prompted you to collaborate?
We’ve all been friends with Straight Six bassist and founder Glen Drieth since high school. He was in the top Denver band at the time called Autobahn and we’d sneak into the rock club to see the band.  Shortly after that Glen moved away to Los Angeles and then Nashville.  It wasn’t until a few years ago when Glen moved back to Denver that we reunited and formed Straight Six.

2. What’s the origin of Straight Six?
Glen had formed Straight Six back in the Sunset Strip days with different band members.  They were actually signed by Warner Bros. based on some of the songs we do now but sadly this was during the massive downfall of the music industry due to Napster and all that..  so there was never a demo or album recorded.  We all wanted to be in a band with each other someday..  so when we all ended up back in Denver it worked out perfectly to start up Straight Six in its current form.

3. What can you tell us about your last album ‘Full Circle’?
How did it come about and what do people take away from it? Full Circle is just that..  we wanted to bring back the fun good times rock and roll vibe we grew up with.  And that’s the main comment we get from our fans and people that hear us for the first time. “Man this album sounds and makes we feel like the good stuff I grew up on!”

4. What do you all have planned creatively for the upcoming year?
We’ve already written our next full album and will be heading into the studio with acclaimed Los Angeles producer Elan Morrison.  We’re hoping to get new music out later this summer.   It’s going to be big, massive and epic!

5. How has the current COVID-19 issue effected the band?
Good and Bad..   the good is we took the time to complete the writing process for the new album.  The bad is..  we are performers at heart.. not studio rats..  so facing the prospect of sitting out live shows this spring, summer, fall..   it hurts.

6. Do you see the music industry changing as a result of COVID-19?
If so, in what ways? Not major changes…. We’re hoping this will go away soon with a vaccine and treatment medications and we can get back to doing what we do!

7. What’s the best thing people can do to you support you?
We will be live streaming a lot of shows from the studio this spring and summer.   So supporting us with that..  tips if you like what you see and hear or maybe even picking up some music or other Merch from our website StraightSixRocks.com

About Straight Six
The group’s high energy live show got my attention, and I’m pleased to announce the EP certainly doesn’t disappoint. These tracks hold your attention. It’s a rock and roll party reminiscent of sounds from the old Sunset Strip days and early Van Halen, These guys are musically talented and proficient but clearly have a good time and don’t always take the lyrical themes too seriously.
